Who Are We?

Lions Clubs International is a worldwide organisation of people who enjoy helping others less fortunate than themselves.

With a membership of 1.4 million in over 46,000 Clubs in 206 countries. Lions International is the largest service organisation of its kind in the world. In the UK there are 19,000 members in 950 clubs, where Lionism has been serving communities of all sizes for over 40 years. A lions club has no full time organisers, and all the work is done in member's own spare time with the support and help of their partners and families.Membership in a Lions Club is by invitation. Clubs usually meet twice month and elect officers, annually. The association is governed by an International board of directors, elected by Lions from around the world at their annual International Convention. Through membership, Lions not only help people in need, but also have opportunities to develop personal friendships and gain valuable leadership skills.

Caerffili Lions Club was formed in 1980, and currently comprises of 12 local men and women with ages ranging from their 40s to 70s, all of whom are volunteers.

What will I get out of it? - it may sound like a cliché but exactly what you put into it! - the satisfaction of helping other people, seeing a project through from start to finish, the thanks of those people you've helped and above all the friendship and fellowship of not only your own club but also that of fellow lions members throughout Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the world.
